The First Amendment at The National Constitution Center
The National Constitution Center has unveiled its newest exhibit, “The First Amendment.” Visitors are invited to explore the 1,500-square-foot space while learning more about the freedoms of religious liberty, free speech, assembly, and the right to petition.
More than 20 artifacts are on display, including a handwritten letter dated 1789 from President George Washington to the Quakers and an Anti-Vietnam War armband worn by the Tinker family associated with the landmark student speech case, Tinker v. Des Moines. This is the museum’s newest permanent gallery.
