FAQs

What is Explore Worldwide?

Explore is a global adventure travel company with 40 years’ experience in providing exciting and authentic travel experiences. With over 350 trips in around 100 countries, Explore’s expertly crafted itineraries combined with award-winning tour leaders, small group sizes and a commitment to responsible travel ensure unforgettable travel experiences in extraordinary destinations. Whether it’s wildlife, culture, walking and trekking, a polar voyage, cycling or a family adventure, our trips will give you once-in-a-lifetime experiences, every day.

What type of trips do Explore operate?

Explore operates many different types of tours in over 100 countries. Their tours can be broken down into a few categories:

Discovery:

Achieve your travel dreams with a cultural small group tour with Explore. See the highlights and get off the beaten track to discover more than the average tourist. These tours are designed to make sure you experience the culture, history and sights of every destination.

Walking:

On these small group walking tours, each tour is graded, so you can understand the level of difficulty of the terrain and walking intensity. Each tour has a leader to guide the walks and show you the must-see highlights, as well as the hidden gems waiting to be uncovered. On more remote or challenging treks, there will be additional guides and support crew. All the accommodation and luggage transfers are done for you, so there’s no need to walk around with heavy backpacks!

Cycling:

Explore’s Cycling tours are a great way to explore a destination under your own steam. Cycling gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the landscapes and communities of a country. With an average group size of 11, you’ll get to enjoy the ride with other like-minded cyclists. And you’ll have a cycling tour leader to lead your group and share their expert local knowledge.

Trips have a cycling grade from Easy (typically flat, leisurely rides) to Challenging (which cycle hillier and longer routes). Most of Explore’s tours are graded from Easy to Moderate, but for keener cyclists, we do also offer some Challenging tours.

Food & Drink:

Food and drink is an important part of most of Explore’s trips, but they also arrange a number of dedicated food and drink tours, including combined Walking and Wine Tasting, as well as Cycling and Wine Tasting.  On these adventures you can expect to explore all aspects of gastronomy: while specialist guides will explain the traditions, origins and influences of the cuisine and show you how the food is grown, harvested and brought to market. They’ll also take you to off the beaten track places that only the locals know about, where you can enjoy sampling classic and less well-known specialities. From time to time, you may even also roll up your sleeves and try your hand at cooking up a local treat.

What’s included in the trip cost?

Most tours stated on the website give the price for the tour and accommodation only, without flights. The meals included varies by trip – check the trip itinerary to see what meals are included.

What is the accommodation like?

Explore opt for comfortable accommodation in the best locations possible. Where possible they like to support small, local and family-run accommodation where they can, as opposed to large chain hotels. Explore typically use hotels that are the equivalent of European 3-star, and you’ll usually have an en suite room. Occasionally, where trips get off the beaten trail you may stay in more basic accommodation.
