  • • The Sierra Nevada, an Outbound Hotel
    November 1 Re-opening November 1 just in time for ski season, The Sierra Nevada Resort welcomes guests to a western classic reborn as a mountain maximalist retreat just five minutes away from California’s highest chairlift-serviced peak. The reimagined 179-room resort, which includes 20 four-bedroom villas opening in May 2023, is a year-round basecamp designed for a new generation of pioneers who share the unbridled spirit of Dave McCoy, who brought alpine skiing to Mammoth Mountain in 1948. Guestrooms nod to the destination’s legacy of rugged irreverence with a modern yet unfussy approach to high west design conveyed through nostalgic art, illustrated maps, and western patterns that occur in natural tones. A collection of 10 light-filled cabins features private fireplaces, modern alpine furniture, natural woods and bathroom tiles reminiscent of the evergreens outside.The Americana-inspired lobby invites guests to sink into lived-in leather chairs and rawhide stools for fireside chats and stiff cocktails. Bar Sierra, the resort’s modern American restaurant concept, celebrates local beers while the lobby wine bar offers a selection of international wines curated by the onsite sommelier.   • • Woolly’s Tube Park
    June 1 Construction on a multi-year expansion and enhancement project at Woolly’s Tube Park kicked off in summer 2022 with the goal of developing Woolly’s into a hub for both winter and summer activities. For Winter 22/23, Woolly’s will see major renovations and expansion to the tubing lanes, six new snowmaking fan guns, and a new elevated conveyor lift. Expect expanded parking and a larger snow-play and sledding area as well. Long term plans include a day lodge, a mountain coaster, the relocation of Snowmobile Adventures HQ, summer ropes courses and more.

  • New Hotel opening in 2024: The Limelight Hotel
    The new Limelight Hotel Mammoth & Residences will feature 151 hotel rooms and 15 luxury residences, as well as a restaurant and lounge, all of it within easy walking distance to the Village Gondola and the slopes at Mammoth Mountain. The hotel’s stylish design will simultaneously embrace and celebrate the beautiful natural surroundings of the Sierra, all while providing the comforts of home that travellers have come to expect from the Limelight Hotels. With a ground-breaking in 2022 followed by substantial progress through the summer, the anticipated opening is 2024.

    The Mill, a favourite on-mountain BBQ restaurant and bar, is expanding both the outdoor and indoor spaces. Indoor seating will double in size and a mobile order pick-up window will be added. The outdoor bar is doubling in size and includes new furniture throughout the restaurant plus a new sound system to enhance The Mill’s live music capabilities.

    June 2 Vulcania – James Beard Finalist Bryan Voltaggio and Michelin-starred Michael Voltaggio, both Food Network stars, and the new modern Italian American concept, Vulcania, recently opened its doors in The Village at Mammoth. The restaurant marks the brothers’ first joint concept in California, serving as homage to their Italian roots. Vulcania draws inspiration from the MS Vulcania passenger voyage that brought the Voltaggio family from Italy to America. Diners can expect thoughtfully reimagined Italian American staples, including the brother’s Rigatoni Arrabbiata, with brown butter sauce and basil, alongside heirloom offerings that speak to their heritage. Vulcania operates in collaboration with Levy, the hospitality partner of Mammoth Mountain. The space is brought to life by a fresh combination of Mid-Century Modern meets the flare of Italy in the 1980s.

  • Improvements for 23/24 season
    Canyon Express - Chair 16 at Mammoth Mountain will be upgraded from a quad to a high-speed six-pack to boost uphill capacity by 25 percent and allow faster reopening after weather events. Mammoth Mountain will debut one of the longest mountain coasters in North America this November, after introducing expanded and improved winter tubing lanes this past season at the revamped Woolly’s Adventure Summit. Future phases of the Woolly’s plan will include the addition of a zip coaster, adventure ropes courses and the relocation of Snowmobile Adventures, making Woolly’s Adventure Summit a year-round activity center. The Community Rec Center (CRC), located at Mammoth Creek Park, is set to open later this fall. The facility will be a 40,000 square-foot Sprung Performance Arena. The CRC will be open and available to the public year-round, with the new ice rink, named LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes, operating annually each winter season between the months of October and April. During the summer months, the Olympic-sized rink will be transformed into a fully programmable, multi-use RecZone, which will serve as the hub for the expanding Parks and Recreation Department’s summer camps and programs. A $34M renovation of the Sierra Nevada Resort is set for completion this fall. The renovations will completely reimagine the resort’s 179 accommodations including deluxe rooms, fireplace suites and chalets with an inviting lobby, contemporary dining concept, and wine bar. A collection of 10 free-standing cabins will join the property this fall, and a heated pool, two spa tubs, and an outdoor food garden will complete the renovations in advance of the ’23/24 ski season.
