About the role
This is a dream entry level role for someone with a passion for travel and writing who is looking to build an exciting, varied career in travel PR and social media, coached by the best in the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most exciting tourist boards and travel companies. The majority of the role will be dedicated to two main tasks: responsible for creating and posting engaging social media posts and overseeing the growth of the social media community for a major client (Brand USA) as well as providing support with PR duties for additional clients. The role also includes general office management duties.
Key responsibilities include:
Social Media

- Growing Brand USA’s social media community and ongoing community management
- Managing and developing the content calendar to maximise content opportunities
- Liaising with global media agency to create boosted posts, ads and lead generation ads on Facebook
- Completing monthly reports and reporting where necessary
- Editing images and creative assets
- Use and management of the following programs: social media management software tool Sprinklr, project management software Basecamp and data asset management system Media Valet

Public Relations

- Writing press releases, media pitches, and long form content
- Building relationships with journalists, influencers, and content creators
- Daily media monitoring
- Researching and pitching creative travel story ideas to media to generate press coverage
- Assistance with arranging international press trips
- Assistance and admin support for events
- Updating our online media centre
- Reporting and monitoring trends within media and social media channels and activities undertaken by competitors

- Office management and admin duties such as fridge cleans, supply replenishing, post, general office and kitchen tidying

Skills and experience
-

- An enthusiastic, positive, hardworking attitude
- A tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications, PR or similar
- Preferably, at least 1 year of work experience in a Social Media/PR/Communications agency or a travel company
- A passion for social media and understanding its role for brands
- An understanding of Australia’s media landscape
- An interest in, and have recently undertaken, international travel
- A creative, skilled writer with excellent attention to detail
- A tenacious, reliable problem solver who takes initiative
- A sense of accountability, seeing tasks and projects through to a final result
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage time well
